"Lord We Lift" is a heartfelt expression of thankfulness and surrender — lifting our voices in praise for God's blessings, love, and faithfulness.
"There are no words," the song admits, "to express my humble thankfulness" for all that has been given "beyond compare." So worship itself becomes the offering, along with the one gift God actually asks for: "here's my life, and the gift that I can share." Even in life's simplest moments, the song reminds us, lifting our hearts and voices to Him is "the least that we can do."
Some backstory: This one owes a debt to bands that shaped this kind of music for me — Petra mostly, and Halo, who may not have gotten a wide enough audience to be fully appreciated. When I was a young, aspiring film student in the early 90s I had the beginning phrases of this song playing in my mind at times. I was experimenting with certain chord progressions and key changes and a few different HMG songs came out of that. There was a time later on when I had forgotten about that and never thought the songs would see the light of day. —Dan Parks
